FABRICS AND MOSQUITO NETS
An exclusive report developed by industry professionals: factual data, comparative analyses, and in-depth technical and market insights.
FABRICS
The fabric makes the difference. Always.
In a tent, the fabric is everything: it must ensure active breathability and waterproofing, effectively protecting against condensation and humidity.
The result? A fresh, dry, and healthy environment, in every season.
A quality fabric helps breathing better, without heat or discomfort.
A plastic-coated fabric, designed solely to resist water (with a high water column rating), traps humidity and condensation, compromising comfort.
Autohome® uses only highly breathable and waterproof fabrics – Made in EU. Yes, they cost more. But in terms of performance and durability, they have no rivals.
FABRIC BREATHABILITY
Everyone talks about "breathable" fabrics, but very few truly are.
Only a handful of fabrics are actually able of effectively transferring heat and condensation to the outside.
Some opt for cost-saving solutions, using imported solar gadgets or accessories—often of questionable effectiveness—to mask the shortcomings of poorly performing plastic-coated fabrics.
The numbers speak for themselves.
Many fabrics do not exceed level 3 on a scale from 1 to 10, despite being marketed as breathable.
Autohome® fabrics? Always at the top: breathability of 53 mm/s (UNI EN ISO 9237/97), the highest in the range.
Autohome: real breathability, not just a claim.
THE TRUTH TEST
Truth Test
Want to test a fabric?
Place it against your mouth, cover it with one hand and blow firmly.
If you feel air on the palm of your hand, it is truly breathable.
Result?
Maggiolina: less condensation, more comfort—even on hot, sultry nights.
HEAT AND CONDENSATION
Vapour transmission: 440 g/m² / 24 hrs according to UNI 4818/98 standards.
Autohome® fabric does not retain moisture, but it allows it to escape naturally.
Zero plastic coatings, zero condensation: this is the Autohome® fabric used in Columbus and 360 models.
WATERPROOFING
The fabrics are waterproof. Stable and Silent.
No extra loose sheets flapping over the tents, no annoying noises: just the sound of nature and truly peaceful nights.
Autohome® fabrics are genuinely waterproof: no additional protection needs to be applied over the tent.
The average range value is 600 mm of water column.
FABRIC WEIGHT
Autohome rooftop tent fabrics are renowned for their impressive density, with an average weight of around 350 g/m², offering excellent insulation and, above all, outstanding wind stability.
At a height of around two metres, even a gentle night-time breeze can affect fabric tension, generating noise from the canvas moving.
To reduce the sail effect and minimise wind-related noise, Autohome uses high-strength fabrics (up to 420 g/m²) in its full-fabric tents. The walls are firmly stitched and bonded to the roof, eliminating loose sections that could flap, rustle, and disturb your sleep.
Autohome also avoids adding makeshift or unnecessary rooftop covers to mask waterproofing issues: the fabrics are naturally waterproof, and the roof is precisely stitched to the side walls to ensure quietness in the wind, structural stability, protection, and long-lasting performance.
